Support the #PeoplesPlatform

Sign The Petition Here !
When people come together there is nothing we cannot accomplish. We must build off of this and continue to not just express frustration but also to provide solutions to fix the problems that too many Americans face today.
This summer, Our Revolution is working with dozens of other grassroots organizations to back the #PeoplesPlatform, a bold, progressive policy agenda that we will be lobbying members of Congress to support during their recess. Our goal is to have the majority of the U.S. House Democratic Caucus signed on to cosponsor the following bills when they return in September:
  1. Health Care for All: H.R. 676 Medicare for All Act
  2. Education for All: H.R. 1880 College for All Act of 2017
  3. Workers’ Rights: H.R. 15 Raise the Wage Act
  4. Women’s Rights: H.R. 771 Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance (EACH Woman) Act of 2017
  5. Voting Rights: H.R. 2840 Automatic Voter Registration Act
  6. Environmental Justice: Climate Change Bill (yet to be introduced)
  7. Criminal Justice and Immigrant Rights: H.R. 3543 Justice Is Not for Sale Act of 2017
  8. Tax on Wall Street: H.R. 1144 Inclusive Prosperity Act
Last year, we made huge gains in passing the most progressive Democratic Party platform in history. Every one of the bills in our #PeoplesPlatform is part of this. Now, we need members of Congress to put their words into action. We will be delivering your signatures to the Washington, D.C. headquarters of the Democratic National Committee to show in no uncertain terms that the grassroots are a political force to be reckoned with, and we demand representation.

ACT NOW!!! CHALLENGE REPRESENTATIVE GREG WALDEN IN 2018 WITH POTENTIAL CANDIDATE CHRIS VAN DYKE (yes, son of famous actor Dick Van Dyke – read the impressive qualifications of Chris who lives in Bend, OR).

From: Andy Seles, Chair, Our Revolution Southern Oregon

Re: Call to Action

Dear ORSO member,

At our last Planning and Advisory meeting we discussed potential candidates to challenge Representative Walden in 2018.  We have interviewed a few to date and were very impressed with Chris Van Dyke.   He has outstanding credentials for the job. These include many years in the private sector (Brand Director and Legal Counsel in Washington, D.C. for Nike and Vice-President of Marketing for Patagonia, Chief Executive Officer for NAU clothing)  as well as service in the non-profit sector (SVP Strategic Communications, World Wildlife Fund, Board Member Oregon Cultural Trust).  Chris’ government service includes stints as Assistant Attorney General, State of Oregon and District Attorney, Marion County (an elected position). His skills include: Integrated Marketing, Brand Management, Strategic Partnerships, Media Relations, Public Relations, Marketing Strategy and Strategic Planning, to name a few. Incidentally, Chris has great name recognition as his dad is actor Dick Van Dyke (who happens to be a big Bernie fan).

While we can’t guarantee a final endorsement for Chris, we need your help in convincing Chris to throw his hat in the ring to vie with the other announced candidates.  If you agree that he should run, please send him an email at using the letter below and feel free to add your own personal thoughts:

Dear Chris,

As a member of Our Revolution Southern Oregon (ORSO) I am asking that you officially announce your candidacy for the Oregon District 2 congressional seat and oppose Greg Walden in the 2018 mid-term election.

Should you be the party nominee, I will personally do everything I can to assist in supporting your run against Walden.  We need a strong candidate who can stand and win on the issues (Medicare for All, Fair Wages, Environmental Protection, Quality Debt-Free Education).  Someone who has name recognition and a good track record. That’s YOU!

In Ashland, 30% of the families qualify for school lunches for their children.  That number goes up to 70% in Phoenix and other parts of Jackson County.  Folks who are solidly middle class pay more for healthcare than their house mortgage.  Our medical insurance is NOT healthcare but catastrophic insurance because the deductible is so high. “Representative” Walden is anything but representative of the majority of people in his district.  And we will do everything possible to get out the vote.

Our team has access to the national Bernie Sanders phone bank and will get out in numbers to knock on ALL doors across District 2 (all 19 counties).  We will work with Progressive Caucus Representative Mark Pocan (WI) and his staff that have offered to work with us and our sister organization Indivisible to host town hall and mixer meetings across District 2.  We will work with you to get the national endorsement of the Our Revolution national organization, which comes with access to campaign dollars.

We look forward to standing with you.

Our Revolution is the Bernie Sanders legacy organization established by members of the Sanders campaign to continue the political revolution begun by Sanders.
The organization’s preamble reads as follows:
“Our Revolution will reclaim democracy for the working people of our country by harnessing the transformative energy of the ‘political revolution.’ Through supporting a new generation of progressive leaders, empowering millions to fight for progressive change and elevating the political consciousness, Our Revolution will transform American politics to make our political and economic systems once again responsive to the needs of working families.” (
Our Revolution, Southern Oregon is dedicated to economic justice for everyone regardless of race, gender, class, social or cultural origin, religion, disability, lifestyle or circumstances. We welcome all organizations and individuals who embrace these values to join us in our revolutionary evolution.
Our primary aim is to find, recommend and assist qualified candidates who seek economic justice for working families and who promote the stances on issues stated in the Our Revolution platform. These issues include wealth inequality, a living wage, Medicare for all, immigration policy, racial justice, college tuition, and big money in politics, to name a few. Our primary geographical focus is Jackson County; however, we will work in collaboration with other Our Revolution affiliates to affect change at the state and federal levels. ORSO addresses the failure of corporate media to cover the critical issues facing our country by informing and educating the public about the problems we face and our solutions to them. We seek to empower a new generation of progressive leaders by providing the leadership training and organizing tools they will need to transform our future.
We welcome your volunteer help in the following areas: communications, messaging and outreach, events, candidate recruitment and legislative advocacy. Please join us as we become the change we wish to see.

Taking on the Wall Street Democrats

By Andy Seles, Chair of Our Revolution Southern Oregon [Reprint of Op-Ed Ashland Tidings, Feb. 2017]

The Obama/Clinton faction’s recent selection of Tom Perez (who is pro-TPP, against single-payer health insurance and opposed to tuition-free state universities) as Democratic National Committee Chair over Bernie Sanders’ choice of Keith Ellison sent a clear message to all democrats that the DNC (the committee that coordinates strategy for Democratic candidates throughout the country for local, state, and national office) will be under control of the same Wall Street Democrats who conspired, under former chair Wasserman-Shultz, to thwart Bernie Sanders’ nomination…(Continue reading).
